I thought of "Invasion of the Blood Farmers" too. From the same movie-making wizards that gave us "Shriek of the Mutilated."

Very good. And a rather unsentimental and coldly pragmatic examination of human survival, both as individuals and as a species. I remember being very surprised by that when I finally read it, having seen the 1962 film dozens of times.

One of the best magazines EVER. There has never been anything close to it since its demise. Many people never realized Guccione launched it. RIP Bob.

He wrote "Psycho." Richard Bloch founded H&R Block.

Agreed, Senor. I found no menace there. Judge Holden he ain't.

I think it's an excellent Western that's deeply flawed and very nearly ruined by Brando's insane and utterly absurd performance - assuming of course that it was a performance and not his genuine derangement captured on film. The scenes without Brando are quite good, with great work from Nicholson and a fine supporting

I saw "Conan the Barbarian" in a Friday night sneak preview double feature with John Carpenter's "The Thing." What a night! I was a very happy 11-year-old boy, and they're still two of my all-time favorite movies. The second Conan movie is complete shit, but Olivia d'Abo is quite hot in it.

"Pigeons from Hell" is great Southern Gothic horror. He captures the feel for the region as well as Lovecraft does rural New England. It's staggering how prolific Howard was in such a short life, and yes, much of it was written purely for the money, but he produced a lot of enjoyable stuff. Conan is his greatest hero,

I think "Sword of Doom" really stumbles in the third act. It builds up tremendously but falls apart at the end. Still a good film. "Kill!" is a wonderful mix of action and satire, with great performances from Nakadai and Takahashi. "Harakiri" is outstanding.

He is fucking great, and his work with Kurosawa spanned decades, going from supporting player to lead actor. I like him best in other directors' works though, like Okamoto's "Kill!" and Teshigahara's "The Face of Another." A very versatile and under-appreciated actor.

"Mifune is good in everything. Except maybe 1941?"

"Also, Dick strongly approved of what he saw of Blade Runner."

I really like the part of "Armor" with Felix and his experiences in battle, but the rest was disappointing and kept it from being a great book. Still worth reading though.

Jugging was the real inspiration for Quidditch.

Looking back over Peoples' body of work, there's a whole lot of shit in there. Ladyhawke? Leviathan? Blood of Heroes? Are you kidding me? Only Unforgiven really stands out as a great screenplay, and as much as I fucking worship Blade Runner I can't say the screenwriting is a vital part of its awesomeness.

While it's not great, making something like The Black Hole was a pretty big leap for Disney and I think it's better than most people give it credit for being. The effects aren't bad for the time period and budget, and I always liked the production design and overall look of it. It also has an excellent score by the
