Oooooo man, the Hypogean Gaol moment is pure, terrifying magic. It's so completely unexpected that for a few moments after I ended up there, I honestly thought I'd glitched the game.

Is anyone here a marine biologist?

Other cool things: I "bought" the Battlefront beta on the PS store while at work, and then told it to download onto my PS4. It was waiting for me when I got home. Truly, these are the days of Miracles and Wonders.

You should, one of the better stupid things I've spent money on.

Oh come on A.V. Club, I know that snarkily hating everything is your shtick but…this commercial was kinda awesome.

Yeah fair enough, I had a feeling someone was gonna call me out on that. Let me say it a different way: the season 2 theme song for The Wire is the worst of all the 5 seasons, and it's not really close.

I'm not really a fan, though I do like a few songs. I'd listen to Dylan before Waits any day though.

I like all the books you've listed, so take my recommendation with a grain of salt, but try reading The Sandman series. I don't even really like comic books, but that series is just astoundingly good.

Right? I prefer my songs to have a better ratio of actual singing to laryngitic dog growling than Waits usually does.

Oh man, I second, third and fourth Tom Waits. I've never understood why people love such sonically unpleasant singing. His version of The Wire theme is worse than dysentery.

On the one hand, after so long, how could they have any creative momentum for this album? 10 years is a preposterous time between albums. But on the other hand, they pretty much kill it every time up. You can listen to any of their four studio albums* pretty much straight through, and they still hold up today.

Ok but your comment assumes that all "straight white men" have exactly the same, or nearly the same perspective, which is an offensively broad generalization.

The Red Kryptonite Defense?

Yeah part of Bender's fun is how evil he is, but there is a limit. It's a credit to Futurama's writers that they rarely exceeded that limit, but this one definitely does.

I know what you mean. And who can forget those stars that were like, 10 kilometers across?

I always hated "A Pharaoh to Remember." There's funny stuff in it, but Bender is such an ass, even for him, and he never has to suffer for it, that I just couldn't get into it.

Can we add Half-Life Episode 3 to this list yet?

While Freelancer was ultimately released, what we got was not the game that Peter Molyneaux promised us (big surpirse I know). I would have loved to play the Freelancer we were supposed to get, with hundreds of ships, varied content, and a dynamic universe. I remember reading interviews and previews where they said

I think Sirens of Titan is his best (and what a batshit TV series THAT would make), but this is definitely the second-best.

How about "Time Only Knows" from the end of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time? I still play that song every now and again to this day. Dark, sinister, and sexy all at the same time.
