That's a fair point. But there's still this weird idea that when a series makes it to 100 episodes then it will be on the air for the next 5 millennia. But 99 episodes? Forget about it.
Then the whole point is moot. Of course they wouldn't bother ordering 3 extra episodes. It already made syndication. And it means they probably wouldn't have ordered this season solely for syndication.
