War Is the H-Word

Iiiiiiiiiiits a great day for America everybody!

I think it was.
"…Consensually, I might add"
and it was the 'I might add' that made the line for me.

I don't have any roots in ska like you, but a few ska bands are in my regular music rotation, most notably Streetlight Manifesto and Operation Ivy.  I also very much back your proposal for a Gateways to Geekery in third wave ska.

Time between Joel Schumachers first batman film (1995's Batman Forever) and Nolans (2005's Batman Begins) was 10 years, but the quality of the reboot meant the relatively short time gap wasn't an issue. I will give the same allowance for this Spiderman reboot to accomplish the job.

It first aired in 2007, so I would have been 14 when I saw it, and didn't feel uncomfortable at any point while watching, so you can use that as a reference point. Although the cut scenes could be grounds for caution.

I don't remember anything particularly shocking being shown. It did feature mild blood and gore and some sex (no nudity that I can remember) but at points came across as more cheesy and over the top than scary. The DVD was rated 15 if that helps. Although apparently the DVD includes some language and other violent

I would agree with you on that being the best entry point to Doctor Who and Moffat in general. Actually I have always found the standalone episodes to be the best ones, the two episode (or longer) arcs always felt too needlessly overdramatic. Some of my favourite episodes have either been light on Doctor screen time

I love the fact that even a full six-episode British series is referred to as a 'miniseries'

I was always so dissapointed that Jekyll never got a second series. Although ending on such a huge revelation was better than having what could easily have been a gimmicky continuation.

@olivececile:disqus Thanks, very interesting information. Also it turns out I'm part of the smallest minority on The AVClub (that was a part of that breakdown) as an under 21 (3% of readers)

Friday: Finished the audio commentaries of Community season 1, each one was very insightful and the AvClub even got a mention in one. Watched Cabin in the Woods, marking the first film I have seen in the cinema for almost a full year.

It looks like I am wrong and there are still two episodes of the current series left, one called 'The Immortal Bard' that will be on BBC2 at 10:00 next Friday, and one called 'Idleness' featuring Jeremy Clarkson which was not shown when originally planned as he had just made contreversial comments in which he wished

QI normally starts in October/November, so quite a way off yet.

Sorry for getting your hopes up. Maybe to avoid further confusion I should refer to it as The British BBC or BBBC.

Also on tonight: The second week of BBC's current Friday comedy block.

Okay, it was posted 2 hours ago, it just didn't appear for me until now.

And of course it goes up just after I post this. I'm sorry for questioning you, AVClub writers.

Where is "What's on Tonight?"? Isn't it normally up by now.

It would be amazing if it turned out that the departments were killed by the creatures they bet on. I'm definitely going to check on this when the DVD is released.

Rabin said he would return to it when his schedule slows down a bit.
