Loved her.
I'm a professor. I'm also a dick. I don't know about holding a dinner party for losers, though. We encounter enough idiots teaching.
Teri Hatcher ends up with Robert Z'Dar's chin.
It was funny. Especially the extended outtakes with Rob Riggle.
CANDY BARS.
Don't forget The Gate II: http://www.youtube.com/watc…
Men relating their ages to athletes' ages
Pretty fucking spot on. How do fifty or sixty year old men watch sports and still get excited rather than just horribly depressed?
@Dogstyle
Ack Ack—
I love Luger, too. And WoJo. And Nick. Even Levitt. I'm not big on Harris or Scanlon because they're both dicks, but I respect the show for making them occasionally likeable despite their personality flaws. Barney Miller was probably one of the best ensembles in sitcom history.
Dietrich vs. Fish
I'm an Art fan myself. Fish is funny. but not nearly as interesting.
Barney Miller
May be my favorite show. WGN has been showing it since last fall and just wrapped up the series run last Sunday. It's starting over again (though you may have missed the pilot) this Sunday night. Set your DVRs.
Of the classic era, I can think of at least three:
Roller Boogie
Beverley Garland and Linda Blair. Fucking hilarious.
Hocus Pocus Alimagocus
Today's Special was a Canadian show about a mannequin that came to life when he wore a hat. They showed it on PBS when I was a kid.
Nearly every episode of Barney Fucking Miller
How did they miss that?
You mean Idaho, don't you?
Here's a good excuse for recommending a good movie— The Great Silence (or the Big Silence, as its sometimes referred to) starring Klaus Kinski and based on the Moutain Meadows Massacre. Check that shit out. Five stars.
Man, I was hoping there would be a thread built off of the Barney Miller mention in the article. That's a show that really deserves to be talked about a hell of a lot more than this crap.
