I guess the only way to keep everyone confused, since the remake was set in China, would be to do the sequel the remake in Southern California. But bring back the bad guy with the gold puffy-vest thing, please! And the gravelly voiced bad guy, Sato.

This is become such a common thing, I think I've just gone over the edge and don't know how to feel now
To be fair/honest, this is a movie I enjoyed, have seen a couple times, but was never in love with. It does have a fun enough core concept, and a bit tacky/of its day, so I can see it being remade without "ruining"

Agreed. Beautiful, warm, funny, charming film….and then Act III happens. I was like, "Uh…why is the main character's hero trying to kill him with dogs/a gun?"

See my post below, re: David Koepp…

I love all of these movies to varying degrees, but I will agree, all three were tripped up by their endings.

Hm….I'd have to see "The Lookout" again to really argue this. But I've seen it twice, and consider it a pretty fantastic movie; it's one of the "little seen gems" i tend to recommend to people all the time.

David Koepp…
Is, I think, the king of Third Act Letdowns.

Well, they are developing a sequel. Though with no Keanu, and now with Patrick Swayze no longer with us, it seems to be shaping up to be "an in name/spirit only" sequel.

The "Despicable Me" trailer - the teaser anyway - drove me crazy. I think it was the vaguely Tone Loc-sounding song that invoked the title.

It just hit me today…
That two 80's icons - A-TEAM and KARATE KID - are opening the same day. I'm sure I'm just slow on the draw to realize that, but..

Few things make me angrier than punny titles; i actually have a friend, sweet guy, but he annoys the holy living bajesus out of me constantly with throwing punny titles at me.

Same two for me, and the bulk of my friends.

Oh, and I agree that the coffee table book was an inspired addition to the Hate, and an idea that would've made sense/been the logical evolution-and-conclusion of this trend.

@anon - well said; and is that trend getting worse as we become a slimmed-down, slicked-up, instant gratification/bigger-better-faster-more culture?, or am i just becoming an old fart? obviously, trends are just that: something popular that then spawns a wave of imitators, sequels, upgrades, cheap knockoffs, etc.

"Winter's Bone" is so amazingly good. One of the better casts in recent memory (John Hawkes AND Garrett Dillahunt?, plus a dynamic, heart-wrenching performance from Jennifer Lawrence).

Sometimes I feel the Tolerability index can be too harsh; sometimes it's spot-on
The thing about the (Fill in Literary Masterpiece here) + (Fill in Monster of Choice here) books is spot-on.

Sadly, despite good marketing, this performed exactly how I figured it would…
I saw this at Sundance. I'd heard it was a troubled/crappy film from a couple people, who'd seen it/heard from other people, yadda yadda.
