Actually, while the person you vote for is a secret. It is public information whether or not you voted any given year. It is the basis for all campaign strategy

I have read comments around here that Trey Parker writes most of the stories. What is the deal with their collaboration and has it changed over the years?

I read it just after college. It's mostly the rantings of a libertarian who is sleeping with three women at once and kind of q sexist but when published considered not sexist due to the fact that he was openly sleeping with said three women.

Which democratic demographic comes out consistently beside the elderly, Republicans turn out to vote consistently. If Democrats came out consistently they wouldn't have lost.

Just like her vote for Iraq was bad information. I was working in Wisconsin for an organization that was supporting her. People knew.

Lots of Bernie supporters ran for local and state office with the intention of doing just that.

She knew she had to win the electoral college before starting her campaign

I had assumed that as she was learning the language the flashfowards began to creep into her mind. When she learned the entire language, the entire timeline was laid out vividly before her.

I don't mean to sound sexist, but once people hit a certain age for me, it becomes difficult to pin down their age within about 20 years. (there are some people who I would swear are in their late or even mid 30's who are in their early fifties or somewhere in their forties). I believe Amy Adams is in about that age

I am still in the afterglow of this movie so I want to agree, however, I am not sure how well the movie would work if the "twist" was revealed to you. I like to think a well crafted film does not depend on its twist in order to hold up but when the entire plot and emotional investment is built into that revelation it

Not being much of a pet person, that didn't even occur to me, I like it. I didn't find this movie to be so much of a tearjerker as others but my eyes did get misty.

Typical Awards season plus the flimsiest of market trends, equal lets try to repeat last year.

Agreed that doesn't make much sense because then the resolution of everything falls to fate (I feel I have to tell you this) rather than the mechanism of their language (The general learning their language himself and understanding that he needs to communicate this to her).

I can understand your feelings on that but I enjoyed that deliberate pacing. It helped the audience marinate in the alienness of everything and allowed us to consider how something like that would feel in real life. If they skipped over those parts it would feel too familiar to how aliens are typically easily

Thank you for this observation, if that is the case (was that the same name as the character in the short story?), that is a very subtle and clever allusion on the part of the author/filmmaker.

Why is everyone worried about legal pot? Small Businesses tons of money etc etc

Saw this last night, great film. Great pacing, acting, editing etc. One of my favorite of the year (still need to see Handmaiden). So refreshing to have a sci fi movie that treats its topics in an adult and realistic manner. Great job to Amy Adams too.

I kept thinking how all the short sighted actions of the military lackies and people rioting are falling into the same impulse that got Trump elected.

Aside from the nazi Ines, the punk community is pretty much built on supporting marginalized groups.

This. Democrats nerd to win state legs and take the house and Senate so we can have sane redistricting in 2020
