So true, great points. I understand "haunted house in space" is basically, on a plot level, what Alien is, but to me that has always been the least interesting part. The movie is a masterwork in atmosphere. The set design is some of the best in movie history and it has great lived in performances from all the

This may touch upon my pet peeve of "Your Truth" as opposed to "Your perspective". I believe in an objective world, though we can never know it for its naked truth due to everything being filtered through our perspective, that doesn't mean what is objective equals your subjectivity. That may make little difference

All excellent points. I honestly love the first 20 or so minutes of the film, from them waking up, discussing what is going on, to them exploring the alien craft and the planet. All of that mood building is excellent. I am so drawn into the world of the film that who is getting knocked off is kind of an

Yeah, it has been a long time since I have seen Aliens or Alien 3. I would like to approach them with fresh eyes. I really like the story arc and the growing connection between Ripley and the junkie doctor. Plus I am just a total sucker for Weaver with a shaved head.

Criticizing Roger Ebert, them fighting words.

Or Predator! God, I love all of these 80's Sci Fi movies.

Simulation Theory, fun to think about, has no actual impact on our world. So what if we live in a computer program or in multiple realities, you can't cross over or start rewriting the code. A computer is filled with information just like all the billions of dancing atoms are information filtered through our sense

Having read enough Philip K. Dick in my life, when I find and fall in love with the woman with the short dark hair, I know I will soon learn the truth of reality, fall into despair over it and end up divorced.

Elon, I don't need the 1% to bust me out of the Matrix, I have my LSD right here…

I would LOVE to be able to see Alien on the big screen. It is a gorgeous film. The set design and atmosphere are perfect. God, I love the hell out of that movie.

I have no desire to have kids. My only exception is to be able to to take my kids to see inappropriately adult movies when they are too young for it.

You have/had a very cool job. That is a great work story.

We accept and forgive you (I haven't actually seen it).

I have surprised myself with how much I am anticipating Divorced.

Great points. Although iirc in the terminator future they used lasers. But the machine guns reigned over all the real action.

kay

I am! You kind of have to mentally separate Aliens for Alien 3 to be justifiable. I think I was too young to remember what happened in Aliens to be offended about everyone on the ship dying except Ripley.

Wouldn't it also rip the entire ship apart?

I so agree, they did too good of a job making them dipshits.

I am kind of one of those snobs. I think Aliens is a really really great action movie, the queen fight at the end is amazing great performances all around and a technical powerhouse. I agree it does everything a sequel is supposed to do and agree with all the points in the article. however, I don't really come back to
