I like the fan theory that states that Bond was never just one guy but a whole series of agents that filled the role over the past 50 years. Makes the number of actors who have played "him" much more acceptable and makes more sense of the Lazenby quote.

Yep, "Frankie Teardrop" is the one that comes to mind first when I think of scary songs. Not even sure it qualifies as a song, actually, but it sure is scary and unnerving. Author Nick Hornby included it in his essay book "31 Songs" even though he had only heard it once and never planned to listen to it ever again.

Now that you've covered the 1890's, how about jumping forward to the 1980's?

Claire, there IS an Elvis movie that holds up pretty well, if you can believe that. "King Creole" (1958) was helmed by Michael Curtiz, best known for directing no less than "Casablanca." It's certainly not one of those cheesy films like "Clambake" or "Girls! Girls! Girls!," and Elvis and the rest of the cast,

I know Danny Peary's "Cult Movies" book series was what inspired Scott to do the column in the first place, and the last book from that series was published in 1989, so Scott wanted to cover the films that followed that time period chronicled by Peary. "Forbidden Zone" was originally released in 1982, which falls before the NCC cut-off of 1985. However, Richard Elfman has had it colorized recently and apparently considers that version to be the one he authorizes, so perhaps it could qualify on that basis.

Just after Peter Jackson's version was released on DVD, I hosted a Kong-a-thon featuring the three key films as well as "King Kong Escapes," a Japanese flick that had enough parallels to fit in fairly well with the others.  That's nine-and-a-half hours of watching various giant apes shake things up!

I always thought it was odd that all six characters on "Friends" seemed excited about the idea of seeing Hootie and the Blowfish in concert since they weren't exactly the coolest band around. The reason only three of them went was because the other three couldn't afford the tickets, or else Phoebe, Rachel, and Joey

I actually believe Xander's lack of relevance during the 4th Season of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" was intentional. Check out the episode "Fear, Itself" and notice what's happening there. Buffy, Willow, Oz, and Xander were trapped in a cursed frat house and were experiencing their worst nightmares that played out for

While watching the film "Man on the Moon," I was thrown off by the scene where Tony Clifton was escorted off the set because Carol Kane and Christopher Lloyd were in the scene even though neither one was a cast member of "Taxi" when this event happened. THEY knew they weren't there to witness the removal of Clifton
