Discovering music back then was a joy. Trouser Press was my bible and Ira Robbins' "Trouser Press Guide to New Wave Music" STILL sees regular use. Pre-internet how else were you supposed to find new artists? I only wonder how long it will be until my kids "tolerate" my tastes the way I tolerated my dad's love of

Couldn't agree more. Though sometimes I wonder how much of the joy comes from remembering who I was when I first discovered it ('81).

Saw OMD at the Roxy as a UCLA freshman in '81. It remains fixed in my memory as a perfect concert not only for the (widely unknown at the time) music, but for the spectacle of seeing people openly snort coke at the table across from me as well as seeing John Belushi throwing up in the alley outside the show.
