In order for Oliver/The Hood to develop, they really need to address his hypocrisy w/r/t killing in his line of work. They seem to be moving very slow with it, but at some point I'm guessing he'll have some sort of epiphany between seeing how Helena is and getting over his trauma on the island and stop killing people.

Probably meant to be symbolic of the changing of the guard. Independence Day was also about those four heroes establishing themselves in the eyes of their mentors, as was Tim establishing to Dick and Bruce that he could handle the responsibility of being Robin.
