John Greendale, perhaps?
I concur - I'd enjoyed the few records of theirs I'd heard enough, but it really wasn't until I saw them live that I came to appreciate them to the degree that I do now. "You gotta see them live" is sort of a cliche, but it's totally true, because it just adds that sense of intimacy and understanding. It's still my…
Yeah, it was my first record of theirs, and looking back it's a solid starting point, even though The Sunset Tree is probably better given it's - in my experience, at least - the one everyone knows and loves. "Sax Rohmer #1" was the first song of theirs I ever heard, and that was enough to convince me to get the record.
To be fair, we hadn't seen him in what, five years? It's not like it happened between seasons or something.
I mostly very much like it. I really don't think I'll ever need all seven minutes of "Magic Pie", but its high points are terrific. I'll never not be amazed at how "Stand By Me" manages to be so ludicrously over the top but still so effective, and "All Around the World" succeeds on the same principle.
Quite honestly I think The Masterplan is every bit as good as both their first two albums. And there were still a few great B-sides from that period that weren't on it!
Without looking at the byline I knew this was Ignatiy as soon as I got to the line about Hulk.
Dave Mustaine originally recorded a rippin' flute solo for "Four Horsemen", but they cut it after they kicked him out.

What I wouldn't give for the actual movie to open with "Man, that was a good movie, An Inconvenient Truth".
I listened to Warning fairly recently, and I recall it being a bit reminiscent of the Replacements' softer side. It's a shame they didn't keep going in that direction - it felt like it actually had a chance to go somewhere.
Definitely Freaks and Geeks. Lays out everything you need to know about the characters rather elegantly.
True. I should have clarified - The X-Files is where the term originated, the concept itself goes back much further.
Makes sense. I knew it was something of that ilk.
It's generally believed to have been started by X-Files fans.
Didn't this book start off as a Harry/Draco fanfic? I feel like I read that somewhere about one YA book or another.
In hindsight, "Christoph Waltz, only terrible" was not the best idea for a gimmick.
The thought of Back to the Future getting rebooted in 2015 is something I'm deathly afraid of but at the same time perversely fascinated by.
