Affleck has said that people still yell that line to him. "Hey Affleck, you were the bomb in Phantoms, yo!"

Also, "Graveyard Shift" is a pretty scary one as well. About giant rats in an old factory that keep getting bigger and more aggressive the further down you go…

Oh man, the part where Garfield thinks that Jon and Odie are back and have food for him, but then when he runs towards them, overjoyed, he discovers it was just a halucination, and then the final cell shows Garfield's abandoned, delapidated (sp?) house…just bleak and scary as hell.

Speaking of "Rats in the Walls", Stephen King's short story "Jerusalem's Lot" (a pre-cursor to 'Salem's Lot), was pretty damn terrifying.

Robert Kaplan's "The Coming Anarchy" will scare the bejesus out of any Westerner. Despite the fact that it is a misguided, jingoistic view of Africa, the image of an out of control, warmongering continent spreading its darkness across the globe is a frightening prospect to picture.

But how to keep those teardrops from ruining the finish?!

I'd much prefer to hear music about parenthood than jokes about it. Only Louis C.K. and Bernie Mac seems/seemed to do it correctly: insult the kids like they're real people.

Your point that this is not a typical King book is a great point; it makes me wonder why he chose not to make this a "Bachman book". King has written that during his early years, he saved his most bleak and angry works for the Richard Bachman pseudonym. One wonders why he didn't put this into the Bachman oeuvre.

The description of Zelda is one the book's (and movie's) most indellible images. There is something unspeakably horrific about a bed-ridden, sick mad woman who hurls abuse at her family who want to love her as a family member, but who is clearly a monster in their midst despite any efforts to change her.
