I know I'm six days late, but I don't think enough people appreciate the beauty of "Candle on the Water." I have never not loved that song.

That's a good point. I actually had not watched Annie Hall the first time I saw 500 Days, but that split screen definitely has echoes of the subtitled conversation scene from Annie Hall.

That and the split-screen sequence were both really terrific; it's too bad the rest of the movie was so aggressively mediocre.

I don't understand how this was not mentioned in the Q&A, especially since the (500) Days of Summer scene always struck me as an homage to Ferris Bueller.
