The Count of Monte Cristo…that's that book about a guy who manages a Bennigan's right?

Has anybody wrestled that big bitch 1Q84 to the ground yet? I've given it two shots so far and can't find it's rhythm yet.

@avclub-525b84f7df0e8063ec6d9a44d409cad7:disqus you get a like for purveying the idea of Jim Anchower discussing the finer points of Gravity's Rainbow.

I heard Kvothe has become such a huge prick that he's refused to be in the third book. I mean he's the world's greatest musician and he fucked the fairy queen and shit…

So lemme get this straight…Kalix the Werewolf is writing a memoir about his mood disorder?

I'll check it out. Lawrence Wright was great when he was with the Dolphins.

I tried Bookslut, but ended up with a virus.

I like the gritty reboot where Jesus comes to the new world and fails spectacularly. No Joseph, don't fuck the baby!

Or the Cryptonomicon: The First Book of the Trilogy That Will Never Be Written (Apparently)

So @avclub-28b1819668d7c62501acb9852cad10a9:disqus  is predicting that more kids today will want to be social critics than serious writers? I'll alert the media.

Just finished The Son by Philipp Meyer. Great vacation read. Throw four generations of a Texas ranching family in a book, then have one get kidnapped and raised by Comanches, and I'm in every time.

I take it @avclub-6a2ec3076bb494e5c64eb1a422d9fe3d:disqus  that you feel like you've been too happy lately and are trying to change that?

Loved The City and the City and Kraken is fun as Mieville does his best Gaiman, but fuck @avclub-60dd44fc5944d2c8eb5bc7b7b9a3a70d:disqus  if Perdido Street Station wasn't the flat-out best book ever about a bug-headed person that extrudes artwork out of the ass on the back of their head. I can practically taste the

"Listen to Terry!"

I'm right now re-reading Sirens of Titan. It's great to go back to Vonnegut every decade of so, as the social commentary becomes ever more prescient. And I forgot how much I missed my old friend Winston Niles Rumfoord.

Agree. But I did love me some Kafka on the Shore

Good to hear. I've got it on my kindle and got 50 pages in and left it for something else. Need to get back to it…

I've really liked Naughty Night Shift Nurses. But it's a tough read. I find myself getting really, really into it, and then suddenly I lose all interest and just want to go to sleep.

So then Harry, Ron and Hermione comprise a thaumaturgical triad?
