I completely agree with @avclub-d3d9446802a44259755d38e6d163e820:disqus on this. I love North by Northwest, but that isn't what this is— it's realistic and powerful. I think the look of fear on Henry Fonda's face as he's being led back to the cells for the first time is one of the most harrowing shots in Hitchcock.

I think it's important to remember that all religions begin in a state of extremism— they wouldn't catch on otherwise.
