One of the funniest interviews I have ever seen— I can't remember what show it was on— was one in which Conway told a story about working for a small TV station back in his younger days, and broadcasting a speech by a local politician who was one-legged, and how that turned out.

After reading the novel and then seeing who was cast as the two leads, I could not even imagine watching the movie.  They should have just said the hell with it and cast Woody Allen and Amy Poehler and gotten some laughs.

I thought Dogville was terrific.  I also find it hard to see Von Trier as constructing "Oscar bait" per se.  I actually think he might be genuinely aggravated if he won one, which might be pretty fun to watch.
