Rubber Soul's 1-2 in particular is of historical significance. Track one is a top-notch riff-driven pop song that hearkens back to Help!…and Track two is the same group that will do Revolver and SPLHCB. You don't hear a group turn a corner (for pop music as a whole, arguably) between songs all that often.

Except for "Exiles" in The Wake, perhaps. But I'm not sure Muth's work counts as illustration at that point. It's straight-out fine art with a comic attached.

Almost exactly my reaction. You could break the script down into the constituent six "mini-movies" that are the thing now…and none of them really had much to do with any of the others. Each of the pieces was actually pretty decent, and some by themselves were A class, but the tonal shifts and ditching of concepts made
