When a man cuts off his string…I'll be there.
I got to see Conan do his first live show in Chicago a few years back and it was by far one of the funnest live-performances I've been too. Conan and enthusiastic crowds equals amazingness. I imagine without the tether of actually producing a television show out of the

A Vatican Man
Santana Abraxis? I don't-I didn't ask for Santana Abraxis.

No, I like good movies.

Fell/Fall, Whatever
I've been confused by the "folly" qualifier since the movie opened. I saw the film twice theatrically and have seen it a few times on DVD since then and I completely love it. Yes, the audicity of the visuals and brilliance of their rendering is awe inspiring and one of the biggest joys of the

I just realized Jenna's mother is only named Verna because of Dratch's Barbara Walters bit where she interviewed Jenna about the Rur Jurr

How Dare You N. Rabin?!
How dare you use a promo photo taken in that brief window when Rachel Dratch wasn't considered too weird looking to play Jenna?! What if Rachel Dratch reads your TV Club wrap-ups! She has nothing else to do! What if this is the one consistant bright spot she has in the years since NBC ditched

Slotz and Woodz
John Krasinksi directed this episode and Joey Slotnick appeared in Krasinski's feature adaptation of David Foster Wallace's "Brief Interviews With Hideous Men."

Zatch Gasfipinaki to the rescue!
Huzzah.

Looks like you win, Pluto. Looks like you win.

"I don't want to brag, but I suspect that the next entry in Nashville or Bust will be the least-commented upon one ever."

From the desk of Nathan Rabin…

If I may be…Blunt
I've loved her in everything I've seen her in, however she has yet to be in a good movie. The Devil Wears Prada and Sunshine Cleaning are both ok, but they're not neccesarily good. The Young Victoria is one of the most tedious things I saw all last year and Blunt's actually not given much of anything

Best Grant
I have no doubt that she makes every movie she's in better, but I sometimes wonder why she bothers with parts like Crazy Heart. I saw it last night, and she's in one of the opening scenes, no lines, and then she's in one other shot in the entire movie, again with no lines. She's such a great actress that I

Coco's Got No Show
And finally the dancing clown takes a stand. Well fucking done, man. That press release reads like a goddamn Clash record. Wherever Conan goes, I cannot wait to follow.

Dreamz with a Z
I'm sure others have suggested this, but American Dreamz would be a great MYOF candidate. Big stars, over-arching satire, box office poison, and some, possibly maybe a smidgen, of redeeming value. Try it, it's painless.

Malick, Malick, always Malick
No Days of Heaven? Perhaps the greatest narration in a movie ever? Linda Mans' absurd and wonderfully conversational growl. "I met this guy named Ding-Dong, he told me the whole world was goin' up in flames…" http://www.criterion.com/fi…

OK, ok….
The real question is what's going to happen to Jimmy Fallon? Oh god, what's going to happen to Carson Daly?!

If you haven't…
Both his stand-up CDs are terrific. I enjoyed the looseness of Freak Wharf too. I'd actually tried to go to one of the shows he recorded it at but ended up missing it due to traffic (fun story!), but listening to the CD was great too.

I'd also add…
"Explicit Ills" On paper, looks great. Talented actor Mark Webber writes and directs a film about poverty in Philidelphia based on his own experiences as a kid living with his mother, sleeping in their car. Interesting cast with Rosario Dawson, Paul Dano, Naomie Harris, Lou Taylor Pucci and Black Thought

I'm blaming the director because as both The Office and Parks and Recreation have showed, the staging of big gags can make or break their realism and effectiveness. Einhorn breaks the documentary aesthetic in uninteresting ways that come off more as lazy and incompotent (ie, having too many cameras in impossible
