What matters more to you, Jeff, the pursuit of writing a "perfect" song or playing a "perfect" show? (Or, in other words, do you think the shared experience of a live show can trump the power of a record?)

"echoes of the man Don Was in Mr. Calvet"

re: "play fucking loud," thats Mickey Jones on drums at that show, not Levon (RIP).

Ha. Really though I wish it didn't seem like she was trying so hard all the time — very little about her performing/singing style seems natural. She seems terrified if you look close enough.

she's really pretty

Always really liked that one too. "FOREVAAAAAAAAA!"

This is incredible. Nailed it between Fairport and Television.

Because almost all of those albums have a different band playing on them, the only sonic consistency, really, being Tweedy's songwriting, I think the 5 records rule in this case applies to just him. In which case:

nope, really grew on me too. obviously not as affecting as some of the other stuff, but 'PS' and 'Star Wars' and 'No' are great power-poppers. still consider it an outtakes album but keeping in mind half his stuff out there is random sessions and outtakes I'm happy to tack some more on

It's kind of thrown together, sure, but it's got some gems in there like "Dreams of a Working Class Clown," "Cemetery Hill," "Saturday Night," and a non-medley-edit of "Elizabeth" that really hits hard.

also Sad Dracula: Fasterpiece and Let It B-Minus, am I right? Right.
