at the end of every episode, i'd ponder the relevance of the closing song in an abstract thematic way, not a literal way. i did the exact same thing with the Coke ad. I see no reason to do otherwise. i was satisfied with "the meaning" without ever getting so literal about it. so very very literal.

no way Don made the Coke ad. i saw the Coke ad as playing the same role as the outro music of any episode. it was video because, hey, it's the finale. Don doesn't go back to advertising because he found the happiness advertising has always pretended to offer, but can't. he's tapped into the real thing for himself.
