As a GenX-er who was just getting out of college at that time, I remember it all as being very exciting. (Of course, when you are coming out of college, everything is exciting.) We had just come off of 12 years of Republican governance, and pop culture in the 80s for the most part sucked. For most of my youth I felt I

I don't think the Billy Crystal/Short season was considered a failure, at least rating-wise, as hacky as it could be.

I agree. Great book. Lot better than Live from New York (thought that was okay.)

You can definitely hear that Romero has a bit of an accent on some of his lines.

Yes. And instead of actually trying to shoot and aim, kids on the phone would just go "Pix pix pix pix" as much as possible, thereby defeating the entire point of the game. I believe that shut it down quick.

This article got me to revisit a bunch of episodes on Youtube. I still found a good deal of it funny, but one thought occurred to me. I love Parks and Rec, but I know Leslie Knope isn't real. I also love Breaking Bad, but know Walter White isn't real. But if you told me Archie and Edith were real, I just might believe

I understand the current vogue for no-laugh-track sitcoms; it can be a little annoying when an audience, which may or may not be entirely real, titters at every lame joke. But, sometimes, a live audience can really add something, as in that scene you posted when the crowd seems to go into convulsions when Archie does

You guys should argue this out in the living room at the top of your lungs, AITF style. Then at the end call each other meatheads.

Apparently the audience was cheering so loud when she (SPOILER) escaped, that the studio shook. The almost-rape episode was certainly flawed, but that's an amazing moment.
