The point got lost in the late point, but I'm pretty sure that the Doctor noted that the hotel drew in people with strong faith as food for the creature -  and ergo why the TARDIS was drawn to it - that Amy's overwhelming faith in the Doctor was a mighty big meal for the big guy.
