I liked Slacker a lot (although I haven't watched it in twenty years).  When I saw it with some friends I found it hilarious, one friend thought it was mostly sad, and another was mystified.  It's definitely a Rorschach test for viewers.

I like the guy who's convinced the Smurfs are meant to get children used to the idea of blue-skinned people, so they'll be prepared for the arrival of worldwide Krishna-consciousness.  This is also the movie that introduced me to the term "crunchmouth," at least I think it is (it's been twenty years for me as well).
