IIRC, that's the episode where the season seemed to veering a little too comic or broad for me, but it quickly righted itself over the next couple eps.

I just finished it last night, and I agree. That was a pretty unique, one of a kind finale. Both Piper and Alex's stories had endings/cliffhangers, but they were really kinda put aside for the whole big climax where they essentially brought closure to almost every other inmate's seasonal arc and had a bunch of things…

Whoa, Michael Boatman. At least 3 of the stars in those credits (Boatman, Dana Delany and Marg Helgenberger) have been pretty relevant in the last 10 or so years of TV.

I saw one that I thought explained it pretty well years ago. I'll try to find it. Basically it's that most of the first two-thirds of the movie is Naomi Watts's dream of what she wanted to happen with her anxieties peaking through, and then the last third is the much harsher reality plus her going crazy.
