It's Pearl Jam. If you go in with expectations, you're doing it wrong.
Well maybe they got such different ratings because they were reviewed by different people, it's not like the AV Club is a hivemind.
Mika is actually pretty great
Unless you're the type of uptight fuck who doesn't listen to ABBA
The Oscars have been along a lot longer, and thus built up a reputation that makes their awards actually matter as to when things get released, what movies make money, etc.
I admit I watched The Informer on a crappy washed out DVD before the Ford on Fox boxset, but it never reached the sublime beauty of either Sunrise or HGWMV. It feels more like a trial run for his later, superior examinations of the working class. It is influenced by Murnau, of course, but it feels more like a kid in…
Both of my parents fucking love Mad Men.
The Beastie Boys are legitimately really talented, but I've too gotten the bad association of Beastie Boys fans who it seemed wanted to listen to hip-hop, but without all that that messy "coming from black people" thing.
OK Guys, honestly getting creepy.
I mean, all of those movies own too (execpt for The Informer, fuck that) but HGWMV has Ford at his most Murnau-influenced, I could put basically every shot on my wall. It's also far more interesting as a presentation of memory than a lot of people have given it credit for.
Rap critics they say he's "Money Cash Hoes"
I'm from the hood stupid, what type of facts are those
If you grew up with holes in ya zapatos
You'd be celebrating the minute you was havin' dough
I'm like fuck critics you can kiss my whole asshole
If you don't like my lyrics you can press fast forward

I'm watching the shit out of the Apu Trilogy this weekend, shit's gonna own.
@Karatlotz HGWMV is his best by far! What the hell you talking about?
You guys as white as hell.
Man, I guess I went to a different High School than you guys, but there were always a couple of girls who read Beat Poetry and listened to The Velvet Underground and if you were able to pull off that "slightly damaged pseudo-intellectual" look you were in as hell.
The reason that he's not more praised is his own fault I think. He had a lot of innate artistry, he was good at composing shots, getting the best out of second-rate actors, forming an interesting mood. But he was too antsy to work on one movie for too long and he was, as you said, always looking at the bottom line.
I've met people who love Boredoms and I've met people who love Lefty Frizzell, never, ever, have I met someone else who loves both of them. I've kinda developed a weird system where I talk to different people about different things.
