It would be ironic if he had been an anti-smoking crusader who died of lung cancer: the opposite of what you would expect. Although perhaps he bought into the tobacco companies' spin, in which case dying of lung cancer was the last thing he expected (surely this wasn't caused by cigarettes!), so maybe it was ironic…

I agree about the Ambien— I have an iPod shuffle filled with Lake Wobegon podcasts next to my bed.

Next time your web crew gets bored, the front page is crying out to be customizable, like Google News: let registered users move boxes around etc.
