Philip seems much more well-balanced in real life so I tend to think he's just a kinda ornery but well-meaning old guy who's having a bit of fun with the spy stuff. It's childish sure, but so are lots of things about Survivor.

I've wondered why British actors are so prevalent too. I'm guessing that in auditions casting directors are easily impressed by a British person acting with an American accent - the 'acting' is more apparent.

I agree that he's not immature so much as severely damaged from his experiences, although obviously I have no idea what he was like before signing up to the armed forces. It amazes me that people are even able to function after returning from war to normality.

RE: Malcolm and Brenda being really quiet - I'm hoping that's because they make it deep into the game so don't need a spotlight in the first few eps. Malcolm seemed to do a decent job of assuaging any fears of him as the unknown in a tribe of favourites.

I'm also hopeful that someone really steps up for their second time - you could argue that Malcolm, Brenda, Andrea and Cochran were better in their first season than Rob and Parvati were.
