I am a big fan of Bug, but I thought everyone else hated it. If I am half right, it's probably not canonical. Even in a cult sense.

My typing is really bad tonight. Obviously I meant Leland Palmer. With a D. Don't kill me, typo Nazis.

Lelan Palmer
Will always freak me the fuck out.

Barney, I'm kind of with you, but kind of against you. I'm surprised at all the love for Life Aquatic on this thread. Actually, I'm also kind of surprised at the nerd-love for Bottle Rocket, which I've always thought of as being pretty rough and underdeveloped. I think Anderson came into his own with Rushmore, and

I wish this guy
had made more horror movies. He was pretty good at it.

Pistols at Dawn is a pretty fucking good name. I would be pissed too.

This discussion was over after Snow Leper.

I love when stuff like that happens. You must feel like… a character in a Charlie Kaufman movie.

Johnny, I will admit that's a pretty good argument in support of Adaptation.

Balls… "There is evidence that many people like it, and that some consider it a masterpiece. There is no evidence that they are wrong, because you haven't provided any. Big difference."

In my defense, there is some strong evidence on this thread that Adaptation is pretty overrated. Overrated, you might say, by half. For example, people calling it one of the greatest movies of the last ten years, or the most brilliant screenplay of all time. I admit this is a small sample size, but the overratedness

Everything this guy does is overrated. That's not to say it can't be good, though. Eternal Sunshine is somewhat overrated, but it's still great - his best by a mile because it has some heart and isn't obsessed with its own cleverness (a la Adaptation, which is okay, but overrated and too clever by half). Malkovich is

By throwing around the word "hipster," I'm taking it back.

Yeah, come on, AV Club - 1997? You can do better than that. That one shouldn't have gotten past a copy editor. At least not one employed by this fine hipster site.

It looks indistinguishable from Children of Men, right down to Julianne Moore. In fact, this sucker looks like a cross between The Forgotten and Children of Men. I hope for Meirelles' sake it's more like the latter.

I adore 28 Days Later, and I suppose I would put it in kind of a tie with The Descent. The two have something slightly different to offer, The Descent being more along the lines of pure horror and 28 Days Later tackling broader themes and stretching the genre.

@ lunatic:
Re: The Descent, it sounds like you saw the same things I saw in the movie. It just sounds like you didn't like them as much. I flat out disagree that it's not a great horror flick, and I defy any one to name a better one to come out in the last few years.

I think The Descent is maybe my favorite movie of the last five or so years. I love horror films, and I wade through so much crap to find a decent and original one that when I find a great one - and I do consider it great - I really treasure it.

In this, he's more of a boob.

I can't argue with any of that.
