I read a ton of Batman - pretty much everything from the Moench/Jones post-Knightfall awesomeness through Paul Dini's run on Detective. Some excellent stuff, and also some less than excellent stuff, throughout about a decade of Batman.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth from that damned final episode. Seriously, may as well have said "Wizards did it."

I feel exactly the same. I will never watch it again. The horrible last season and piss-weak finale retroactively ruined the first two seasons. I threw my DVDs in the bin. It was that awful.

Watch the first season or two, and the run as fast as you can in the opposite direction. Those last two seasons were absolute shite.
