Gotta be "Werewolf" for me, although "Space Mutiny" and "Parts: The Clonus Horror" are up there, too.
'Wouldn't it be fun to make a time travel movie with the dumbest, least responsible time traveler of all time'
Well I got a job and tried to put my money away
I told you never to call me on this wall!
I've subsequently become an atheist myself. In fairness, I was probably well along the way by the time I was confirmed, but I can't blame my CCD teacher (or Martin Scorsese) for that.
I'm surprised no one else has mentioned I, Claudius yet. We watched the first half dozen episodes or so in Latin class in high school, with some judicious fast forwarding through the rare sexy bits. It was (and is) awesome.
We watched Voyage of the Mimi. Doesn't Affleck throw up off the side of the boat after eating a banana-and-peanut-butter sandwich? Good times.
Ha! Bit of a difference.
We did Henry IV Part I my freshman year in HS. It was the first Shakespeare I'd ever read. I liked it, but then I went on to be an English major in college, so I may not be the best example.
My CCD teacher showed us The Last Temptation of Christ. (This was shortly before I was confirmed, so I was… 12?) I have to give him credit for that - it was ballsy. I don't remember anyone being put off by it.
What part of SILENT MOVIE didn't you understand, Orlock?!
That's on purpose! Thankfully by the time South Park came around I was in college and didn't have to hide much of anything from my parents. I think my mom has even seen the South Park movie.
Ah, the Playboy channel. A friend of mine and I used to "watch" it on his parents TV late at night. Here is how that worked in the analog era: when you tried to switch to the Playboy channel, to which my friend's parents did not subscribe, the signal was scrambled and the cable box would automatically switch away to…
There's a lot of really melodic metal out there, actually: Red Fang, Witch Mountain, Mastodon, Baroness. It's a pretty big tent these days. Not everything is blast beats, tremolo picking, and cookie monster vocals (though there's a ton of that stuff too).
So what metal are we all listening to lately? The new Red Fang has left me a little cold, I'm sorry to say. Intronaut's latest has really grown on me though, as has The Ocean's Pelagial. And there's a new Cloudkicker album out that I've been meaning to get to - anyone heard it yet?
Bet your helicopter that, tomorrow… there'll be sun…
Ha, I was just reading wiki on the Voyage of the Mimi myself. Turns out it met a comically sad end:
Nothing like washing up on a desert island with nothing but… heroin.
I tell you what, we'll eat her, and if you feel bad about it later, we can dig a hole for you to throw up in.
