Perhaps that should have been my 1a, yes.

Man that movie was kind of a letdown.  Maybe my expectations were too high, though.  No one else in the theater even seemed to think it was funny at all, so I ended up laughing at some of it by myself, which is never a fun time at the movies.

I spent August in the Adirondacks and was really hoping NYC would be civil by the time I got back.  No such luck.  Really hoping today is the last gasp of summer.  I love taking walks in the fall.

Wow, I've had "The Inheritance of Rome" on my to-read pile for a couple of years now.  Guess I should move it to the top.

I went to college in Maine and I can confirm that yes, Maine people (especially rural Maine people) say "Ayuh."

You should learn to change a tire just to embarrass the men you will meet who don't know how.  It's actually pretty easy, just your hands get filthy from handling the tire.

If you don't mind the subway, hie thee to Spuyten Duyvil (the bar in Williamsburg, not the neighborhood in the Bronx).  Pretty incredible selection.  Mugs, also in Williamsburg, is worth checking out too, or it used to be anyway (I haven't been in a few years).

Hey, I grew up in a Giants/Yankees household, too.  And I don't care about NBA or NHL either, although I tend to root local, so I suppose that makes me a Nets/Devils fan.

But your name is @avclub-eaff9f19dbfd5c5a5807b5dbfa656ec9:disqus , not "The Thunder"!

Man 2006-2007 was just a steamroller of great films.  The Departed, The Prestige, Children of Men, There Will Be Blood, Zodiac, No Country for Old Men, 4 Months, 3 Weeks and 2 Days, Eastern Promises, Pan's Labyrinth… and a lot of movies that were not A-list but still surprisingly excellent like Sunshine, Hot Fuzz,

MacDougal Street Ale House does have a shockingly good happy hour deal.

The fucking bridge is gorgeous.  Although with the current work being done, not as gorgeous as usual.

The masturbation episode and the Stanhope episode were, by pure chance, the first two episodes I saw, back to back as reruns, after a friend recommended the show to me.  Holy shit was that amazing.  The rest of the episodes have seemed mildly disappointing in comparison, but I still love the show.

Replying to you since we have the same avatar.  Though Brazil won't make my list I'm afraid.  In no particular order, after my #1 anyway:

Hm.  I always thought it was "mated."

Subway porn.

Now, gods, stand up for bastards!

Seeing as they lost their running and linebacker corps and replaced them with… nothing, I'm not seeing this as their year.
