I don't know if I'll have a lot to contribute to a weekly metal thread.  I had a hard enough time contributing to the monthly Loud articles.  Currently listening to Elder's s/t, though.  And looking forward to new Ghost (excuse me, Ghost B.C.) and Ocean albums.

Evincing?  Wouldn't that be more or less the same as "showing"?  Did you maybe mean "Eschewing"?  Or even "Evading"?

Damn, that is sad news.  I started reading the AVC primarily for the film reviews, and Scott (and Keith) were a big part of the reason I found them compelling.  I hope the replacements can step up.

The hyphen is used to join the adjective and the noun into a single phrase.  It's only necessary where ambiguity of interpretation might result without it.  It's easiest to understand the potential ambiguity when you compare the same phrase with the hyphen in two different places.  The sequence:
