It was my final FILM101 assignment, a 3000 word research essay. She is intense, but to me it rides a fine line between being funny/scary and being annoying. Though the fact that Langford was totally willing to kill her speaks volumes.

On the movie front, I watched The King of Comedy as part of an essay I was writing on Scorsese, and then watched Seven Brides for Seven Brothers afterwards.

I pictured it more as a drama than a horror film. Certainly there are supernatural elements, but to me the overall feeling is a character study rather than terror/dread. On that level I think it worked quite well.

I thought Connor was pretty cool when he first showed up in Angel (and on the re-watch). Unfortunately, it quickly became clear I was wrong.

The landscapes used in Lord of the Rings typically tend to be a few hours drive from the nearest major city, so a lot of New Zealand films just don't use them. Though it's actually pretty weird watching a movie where you recognise almost all of the locations as places you walk past all the time.

Celebrating the end of the second trimester, I watched Nosferatu, Rosemary's Baby and The Gleaners and I.

When a guy who's basically Mastermind is in the episode, I don't think that anything X-Men inspired is off the table.

I think Tokyo Story has moments of judging both the young and old characters. Not that its really about the blame game.

She was quite good, unforced and often quite expressive, and got about a third of the audience to stand (New Zealanders aren't big on the standing ovations, so that's quite an achievement). I'm not an especially big fan of the violin concerto as a form however, as they tend to be too virtuosic for virtuosity's sake,
