I watched The Colossus of New York, The Brood and Smiles of a Summer Night. The Colossus of New York was endearingly terrible, an obviously bad 50's B-movie but with enough unintentional hilarity and competent film-making to make it a decent enough watch.

I find it interesting to see subtitles in Italian and Spanish and think about how I would phrase it differently. I still need the subtitles to fully understand the movie, but know enough of the language to question the translation.

Agreed. But then in Double Indemnity there is a framing device and a legitimate reason for him to be narrating, whereas in far too many movies and TV shows there is no framing device, just the assumption that voice-over is totally the easiest way to explain things.

It's not just that it's a good song, it's also an extremely well thought-out number as a whole. Wilder may not have a great voice, but he really sells the song as an actor.
