This was definitely Mail Robot's Emmy submission episode.

I hate to say it, but I don't think Kiernan Shipka is turning out to be a very good actress. She was wayyyy to over-the-top here, and she's been starting to let me down on Mad Men too. RIP little Thally Draper. You showed so much promise.

I'm still giving this show the benefit of the doubt because it's so new, but damn they reallllly leaned in on the whole Carol-is-an-undesireable-nag thing. The final sequence was not really enough to undo it. Like, it's really feeling like we're supposed to feel sooo bad for Phil that Carol is so demanding and then

This Drapers-Do-Comedy Weekend is really helping me through my Mad Men withdrawals.

Watch it. I'm a liberal feminist and it's one of my favorite shows ever. The football is just the story engine. The actual show is about family and community. And it has some fantastic female characters.

Oh good, a place to espouse my not-so-popular view that Becky was the best of the teen girl characters. Yes, even better than Tyra.

I'm so sad about this. Why bother assembling so much comedy talent and not even promoting it? I thought for sure they'd renew it and air it with Playing House and all of my dreams would come true, but no.

I literally had like a weird little-kid fantasy about saving Bean Bunny that I would play out with my stuffed animals because that scene affected me so much.

Yes, but will they teach us this—what is it?—A New Way?

Glad to see Boyle's still not over Jake's mafia BFF Derek.

Wellllll SPOILER he wasn't.

Sorry for the condescension. I will say, however, that your two sticking points were in fact, my first two thoughts upon hearing the show's premise and I thought it sounded awful and yet I still gave it a shot based on the critical reaction and found myself enjoying it immensely. But yes, there is so much good TV on

Except, in the context of the show (which, y'know, you could watch before making judgments about its plots): (1) The reason Jane decides to have the baby is (among other things) that it is the father's only chance to have a child and he really wants it, so she is making a selfless choice after yes, considering

Genevieve and Vern were the best. Hildi was the worst. And I can't believe I remember any of their names.

Apparently (according to someone on tumblr) the cold open was a deleted scene from Season 1, so I wonder if there were some production issues with this one.

I just realized that Benched is to The Groundlings as Playing House is to UCB, so putting them on together might start an improv gang war.

Dear USA,

My favorite joke was that #1 on Jimmy's list of heckles for the wedding was "Ralph Malph". Much like the Daniel Craig = upset baby, Jimmy again hits the bullseye with Vern = Ralph Malph.

Seriously, Margaret Qualley really surprised me. She's been good as moody Jill but I assumed that was all she could do. But I totally bought her as a bubbly 14-year-old.

Aww I thought my brother and I were the only ones who called people "jerk-store".
