"But I am feeling a whole lot of inappropriate sexiness from the Alaric/Elena scenes in which they wear very little. And it makes me feel a little strangely."

He was mentioned way back in season 1. As I recall, he left the Sheriff for another man. I think Caroline even has a stepsister (who I'm sure will show up in Season 5 and be super hot, as that is the TVD way).
Best article I've read on here, ever
Thank you for this interview. Somehow I've only ever actually seen Peter Gallagher in The O.C., but I read this entire the. Simply fascinating. He is a great storyteller.
After this week's Parks & Rec, I really want to watch
Ultimate Battle Smoothie on Slurp HD
I yelled at my TV a lot tonight
How does this show manage to have several unexpected twists EVERY episode? Each Thursday, just to kill 10 minutes at work, I make predictions of what I think will happen in the night's episode. I have pretty much gotten 0% right, ever. It's also possible that I'm just dumb and easily…
the goddamn moonstone
Damon should not be in charge of anything ever, because he is so dumb (for real). First, he put the moonstone with Katherine in the tomb when she VERY CLEARLY wanted it. And then when they finally get it back, he's like, "Hmmm, where should I hide this? Well, it looks kinda like a bar of soap,…
The Vampire Diaries was a huge surprise to me. It has every right to be utterly awful, and yet, it is somehow the most entertaining show I watch. I mean, I'm starting to look forward to it more than Parks & Rec at this point.
It's art. Anything is anything.
Chica Barnfell, our first arrival!
Clearly her greatest role [see icon].
"You know what's thirsty? I mean you know what's weird? How thirsty I get when I'm weird. When I'm drunk."
To be fair, though he's underage, Tim Riggins looks 29. And Canadian.
Daddy's Little Judge
Her father is a judge? Good thing she has practice in this exact role:

Excuse me. This is obviously a role Peter Gallagher was born to play.
It was mostly the Lockwoods who were concerned about Vicki being from the wrong side of the tracks when she was dating Tyler. I don't recall any of the Gilberts giving a shit about status, Elena just didn't like that she was pushing Jeremy into drugs.
A-
"I can't believe it. Elena is my sister's husband's brother's daughter, and her mother is my boyfriend's deceased wife. You can't make this stuff up."
Well, shit. I had not thought of that. And obviously neither did the writers. They do put chains around their necks too, but still, you're completely right. Just ignore these things and enjoy an otherwise highly entertaining show.
They didn't show Tyler fully transformed, but they have shown two other transformed werewolves:
Thanks, AVClub!
I'm so glad you're reviewing this show now that I actually got an account!
I was being sarcastic, as the werewolf anvils last season and at the beginning of this season were incredibly drawn out and ridiculous. It was one of the show's only annoying aspects.
If it makes you feel any better, in season one there are lingering shots of the full moon anytime a certain pre-lupine character goes into a blind rage.
