I think you pretty much nailed it, Jay. Seasons 3 & 4 are probably the strongest; it took kind of a long time for the show to find it's legs. I still like the whole run, though.

Agreed. I don't think P&R really counts. Leslie had a crush on Mark and eventually moved on. They both began dating other people. One subplot evolved into others. I don't think the writers forgot it or even really ingored it; there was just less reason to bring it up.

The OC would also cast off its romantic competition characters as soon as they'd served their purpose (see: all of the new characters introduced at the beginning of the second season).
