Preach.

That kid with the dreads is at least 18, right? Because "Saving All My Love For You" is my all time favorite and now I want to do things to him.

I started crying during the opening "How Will I Know" This is straight-up black girl manipulation. I can't give this episode anything less than a B, because Whitney, my feelings, and my emotions, and I'll always love you gurl.

Erik Adams, that was great! Schmidt's whole monologue at the hospital about Nadia's 90 degree angle won it all.

Everyone is so tense. Well, Thursday's Parks and Rec episode aired early in Canada so I got to see it and it's amazing.

"their viewpoint has to be different than the white characters."

Well yes, duh, I never said or implied that this was the end all solution to the problem. But maybe we could just start with getting black people more roles?

As an example of this, I'd use the 2011 French film "The Intouchables", now this film is problematic and racist in its own French way, but let's not get into all of that right now.

But the black actor that's hired for the role can bring this experience to the character. Also, how often does this experience inform the character's motivations and desires on an episode-by-episode basis? Aren't their motivations, plots, and desires usually driven by their likes, dislikes, etc. Something that can be

I'll never understand why "The Music and the Mirror" is so popular. It's my least favorite song. Give me "Nothing" over that any day.

What @avclub-1898a4d76532f237d9b5c0592dfe71a9:disqus said. What does it mean to "act white"? Since I think black people are incredibly diverse, I don't see how any experience could be outside of the black experience in America, it can only add layers to that experience.

@avclub-9df61e97fae3728958684d5a934163ca:disqus yes. too long, but i did read. the thing is, none of that defines the show as "white". Like I said, mostly white people watching it doesn't make it white.

@avclub-1898a4d76532f237d9b5c0592dfe71a9:disqus ooooo, gurllll, let me tell you, if he'll do you in the trash, he'll treat you like the trash.

What is everyone complaining about? Girls makes some great music!

@avclub-d72f705337e5adcf7e33ec0381c5f5b2:disqus well, i can't speak for white babies, but black babies come from a mix of al green, barry white, and purple drank (to taste).

I don't think the make-up of the viewers dictates what type of show it is. Mad Men and Downton Abbey deal with themes, that at their core, are about the human experience. I can't say the same of Girls yet because I haven't seen enough of it.

I will check it out, you just gave me something to binge-watch this weekend!

Pshhh, this black woman LOVES Rush. I grew up in northern Illinois, Rush is mandatory.

Exactly, reading this article, my first thought was "so the thing that has been happening to black art is now happening to white art…ok."
