Minority female right here, got any questions!?
Minority female right here, got any questions!?
Haha, this was my first thought.
I think it reached a "Two and a Half Men" point where everyone knows it's horrible, but those who don't will never understand.
As a black viewer of all three shows who knows many black viewers who watch these shows, what does that have to do with anything? White people like it so it is white? Is Bob Marley white now?
Is it really that good? I watched part of an episode after a boy meets world episode and thought it was ok, but hadn't heard a lot about it. I liked MTV's "Awkward.", is it similar?
this is the internet, i can't shut up. after this i wrote a long comment defending feminist porn at my school with links to a jezebel article. i am the worst and i'm late for class because someone on the internet was wrong.
oh man, you don't have to include "the black experience" in your black character. no one expects a black character to represent the entire race. a black person could be just like your white friends! just with black skin!
You're welcome. My black negro powers shall lift these comments up from their mediocre upbringings to something far more spectacular.
Someone on this site once assumed i was white because my name is ashley and I was commenting about saturday night live and apparently, just commenting on the av club is a white people thing?
I will say, that when my minority friends and I describe a show or movie as "white", it's just cultural shorthand for us. It's a heads-up that this show/movie isn't really for us, it deals with privileged problems we don't experience, and we may not like it. it's not a guarantee we won't like it, in fact, i love a lot…
What!? I don't understand. They were all best friends! FOREVER!
f'real. people don't know.
Didn't you see how MESMERIZED everyone was when Karen sang at the club?! Everyone was paying attention! Didn't even sip their drinks!
I knew this was bad because at every "major" plot twist, I just had to roll my eyes. Awful.
@avclub-5fd14fc7a83b79e976652d8c4abecc78:disqus Yes, I do think that's the characters motivation and hopefully it will be addressed in later episodes. I guess I'm not happy with the way they're establishing it? I said this in another comment, but for me, the friendship between Marnie and Foreign Girl isn't strong…
Yup, I know because "One" is my "drunk and annoying everyone in the bar" song.
I'm sorry you are wrong.
"A Chorus Line? But did that generate many singles? With, like, radio airplay and all?"
"What I did for Love" from A Chorus Line became a fairly big hit. It was played on the radio and the cast was invited to perform on a lot of talk shows.
I mean more people in the comments and my friends I've talked to. I can't say "I didn't particularly like the dress Hannah wore in the park scene" and I'd get 80 replies yelling at me to just let Lena Dunham be great. I think the extremely positive critical response has only heightened the polarity between fans and…
Yes! I was surprised the review didn't bring up that parallel.
