What is your Arabian Nights project if I may ask? Comics-wise, I've appreciated that Fraction/Ward's ODY-C has kinda morphed from a riff on Odyssey to a riff on Arabian Nights. It's had me wanting to crack the actual text at some point.
I dig Lincoln a lot too, and Julian is great, though it takes place a few years before the whole America thing.
Burr is so good. It's one of those books that's irrecovably changed the way I think and imagine certain historical characters, like a People's History or something of that sort. I know it's fiction, but it's hard not love some of the portrayals he pulls off. It's hard for me to separate Jefferson or Washington from…
Dude(tte) you're the first person I've seen mentioning Limbo here. You put it well- it's not a knockout amazing comic but I really dig the art and overall style. Cassettes and Calacas is a pretty strong hook for a certain type of dorkus.
I've seen Kotaku playing up it's Chrono-Trigger-ness- apparently it uses the same types of team-based Techs. Sold!
You were indeed 100% right Ricky. Bummer.
Disappointed to find out this isn't a Monster Squad spinoff.
'Songs in the Key of Decker' WOULD make a great stocking stuffer.
Amen brother! More Music, more Hecker in 2016!
So so stoked this is out. No one scratches my itch for electronic sprawl like Mr. Hecker and his albums are just getting prettier and prettier. Glad to hear it's good- thanks for covering this! Hopefully some folks try this and realize they dig it.
Funny, I don't remember seeing you there at the brilliant comedian convention where we officially mentioned them all.
Excellent work sir!
'Coulda Woulda Shoulda - JOSTA!'
Was there a more 90s tagline?? How Extreme!
I have fond memories of drinking these at summer school one year. They were disgusting, and I became thoroughly addicted to them. That same summer they began playing Thundercats reruns on Toonami.
'OH THE SUMMER OF 97' - B. Adams.
Twin Falls - FEEL THE BURN!!!
Didn't the artist Tom Scioli say that's how he comes up with some of the layouts, or did initially?
It is by far my favorite series going. Every issue feels like such an experience. I'm not even really a fan of either series, but MAN I wish there were more comics this good.
Citizen Jack has settled into a recognizable rhythm and I am digging the subtle mix of politics, ice hockey, and malevolent demon overlord. Not terribly funny or insightful, but I dig the art and am totally along for the ride. Something about a drunken man in a robe.
Clean Room remains one of my favorite comics running…
I would recommend Klaus, but I think you're on the record as not impressed by any psychedelic toymaking shenanigans. (He left the rune for joy, what could this mean?!? There's no Yule celebrating allowed!)
Welcome Back really was one of the best new series last year. It managed execute its premise with a great style…
Ha it has very little Dante-isms after that first issue if any. There's not a ton of plot or continuity beyond Godzilla is in Hell or something. I still thank that first issue was the winner of the bunch, though I really appreciated the customvan paintjob fantasy style of issue two.
Bummer- you should have submitted them!
