Agree completely! I got into Tim Buckley earlier in the year after hearing his original Song to the Siren and was really surprised how many twists and turns his discography had! Starsailor is probably his best, though lately I've been bumping his LA sex funk in the mornings to get my brain popping.

Concurring with everyone that later Scott Walker goes much deeper into the brush than New, Nil, or Par. I always thought The Electrician was a kinda center of Avant / 70's.

Ha! You get an upvote for PURE PANACHE!

Pretty good, though it is kind of a waste of three drummers when they're all playing the same thing!
Reminds me of Swing Kids or that San Diego sound mixed with Saves the Day or other melodic post-hardcore. Kinda like early Piebald!

Saw the trailer for this one- there were pull quotes to the effect of 'Everything Cinema could ever attain' and 'This is the kind of movie I've dreamed' of..
C'maaaawwwwwn!

What a bummer! My urge to see this in the theatres is being undercut by shenanigans!
It's like the Brazil fight- if Harvey wants to clip it to his taste, call it Harvey's Grandmaster!

And I just completely glossed over any and all qualifiers before pulling out the megaphone..
Those singles from that era are indeed their best. There's nothing like the Fall in that Rough Trade/Kamera period.

Sean- Perverted by Language starts with Eat Y'self Fitter! You're going off the cd reissue that tacked on the Rough Trade singles!
Ultra semantic, because those singles slay. I appreciate you preaching the gospel! I'll take the dual-drum depression of Perverted over This Nation's any day!

I think he was born and grew up in Spain, but went to college in Mexico, right? I think his book on Hitchcock sprang from that period.
edit- HA! Completely wrong! I bow to all of you in shame.

Either/Or, 100%
They're all really good..even his lesser songs are pretty darn great. Either/Or is still my favorite though, balancing past intimacy with future prowess. The recording, the songs- it's the perfect balance. XO is really good as well, as is his earlier stuff..it's all good!
I still remember when Figure 8

I agree completely on the Distorted Reality. The arrangement on the album version really lost some of the wind that makes that first version so strong.

Great work Erik. I remember hearing about his death on the internet as well, though not on Weezer.com..maybe from Buddyhead? I had just gotten the Pretty Ugly Before 7" in the mail from Suicide Squeeze just a few days prior to his passing, and both songs just had such weight. I'd still put that version of A Distorted

I took that as opposed to forming a narrative/opinion/pointed meaning via lyrics. I actually have the same feeling about a lot of the music I make. Lyrics can be pretty arbitrary.

Does that mean Mighty Like a Rose era?

Piling on the Thank You's Kyle. Anytime is a good time to recommend the Hot 5/7s catalogue, but it's hitting me right on a hot Friday afternoon.
Now if only I were in the sun and beer and not in the flourescent and coffee…

It's just you. This here's Hello Dolly country..

Don't blame me- I voted for Gallagher!

My sister had a similar experience with her folks and Pans Labrynth, though her parents were really hurt by it. 'Why would you want us to watch this? Do you hate us? Are we bad people?'

Sounds like Dirty Projectors on a Cap'n Jazz kick. Not my cup, but an interesting brew at least!

@avclub-b6295f9a8b2d34f30d97c042a431dd6e:disqus I know- every Pavement review I read says they're a Fall-obsessed ripoff of the Clean…they don't even give them a chance!
