Oh the hours spent listening to Small Brown Bike in high school…
It does seem like Small Brown Bike get left out of the canon compared to their peers..I'd put Our Own Wars up there with Vaya and Domestica and all the other classics of late 90s post hardcore.
Is this basically an expanded version of their collection cd

Whose some sort of Dwane Johnson fan?!?

How do we flag things again?

@avclub-9c33ea7188cb0fc5d524f4ad1e8d8fc5:disqus I know exactly how you feel- I've got the NRA Southern California chapter over here..it takes all of my might to keep my mouth shut and not to go to war every single day.
I did ask them this morning if they'd become Soviet Scholars overnight..

This will be fun while it lasts!

I think the overall sound is huge, but you can't discount the riffage. The stringed shredding is a throughline for folks, whereas jazz virutoisity might not quite scratch that itch.
Wonder how many metalheads or classical musicians have found their way toward Merzbow or Man is the Bastard?

It sounds like he's trying to write Death lyrics!
Pretensious prose, I agree, but if you reformatted that paragraph with 60 line breaks that would make a perfect death metal lyric sheet.
*cues up individual though patterns for kareoke*

I agree with you completely. I can't think of a more frustrating young director, where their promise is wrapped up in their schlock. Hunger had some fantastic and bold scenes (the long-shot conversation, the foal story come to mind) and Shame had some really great stuff as well, but I can't say the movies are as good

I'm with you completely, although I was of the Get Up Kids generation..it's been weird seeing it get sucked up into the zeitgeist.

Is Mineral touring?

I actually gave this album a preview on spotify this morning because I agree with you- you can't say something is shit without having tried it.
I am now indeed completely qualified to make such statements!

Checking this on Spotify- this is great! Everyone's right- the production does the heavy lifting on this, but it opens Ghost and guests up nicely. Really reminds me of what Dangermouse was doing when he first came around, although less cartoon-y and more Argento-y.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Phipps and Tobias rip

How about Los Angeles, Now - What's New and Fun in the city's pop-culture landscape?

and I found a copy of Deep Cuts on vinyl this weekend!
You're oddly prescient egyptianshite!

Agreed- I feel like a dick for damning someone for trying, and the direction was pretty good, but otherwise it was a steaming pile. Not Crazy Sexy Love, but that doesn't make it Taxi Driver.

PINES STUFF for PINES PEOPLE
I saw it this weekend and can still smell it from here! Blech! How dude ruins a perfectly popcorn Drive rehash and turns it into a biley Crash rehash is beyond me. I should've walked out before the 15 years later.
I'm sorry, but it feels like Boondocks Saints or something- Marky Mark really

All of Godard's films have common themes, but they all seem so different..still none is the anomaly Alphaville manages to be! It was my second Godard but the first to light my fire. What if Metropolis was a comic-book noir about love and poetry?
I haven't known this to pre-eminent- usually it's Breathless followed by

I've been wanting to catch Pale Flower. Your take on it seems what I'd expect- a less colorful Suzuki. Almost chose it on Hulu this weekend but Wise Blood won out.

That's a great start to a Vinyl collection. Now you need to hit the dollar section and fill up on Herb Alpert, West Side Story cast recordings, Loggins and Messina..
