@avclub-bde03a31feb6259716046ea17db6e426:disqus I was thinking the same Swans comparison! Fans are stoked to get new material, regardless of how it's divvied up.
If I'm going to listen to an album for 30-60 minutes, what the hell do I care how many breaks they take? Let it Ride!

Agreed. Pretty sure most everyone is interested in hearing more of them, length be damned!
I quite liked their last work Tomorrow in a Year, which did a lot of longer form stuff.

Weren't Boris' last 3 albums MBV cover albums?
I kid- 5 of us are STOKED!

I know- that was supposed to be a deterrant?

If I ever end up teaching music, this series would go far to teach folks the difference between Major and minor. What a fundamental difference  can be made by just a couple flats!
Of course, that would mean people would still know Losing My Religion and Nothing Else Matters in the future, which is betting a lot on the

Ha- my brother passed me that last week! I actually learned how to play my first E minor on the seventh fret by learning that song, so it's extra funny hearing it in E major!

I agree, but I do think you and I are probably the only two folks in the world who think that!

I've had the reverse happen, where I bought something thinking it would be metal. I bought an lp called YESCA thinking it would be spanish sabbath worship and it ended up being one of the best folk albums I've ever found! You really never knew in those days..

I HAD THIS CD!
In those pre-internet Moby-Disc days, a used cd from a band called Butt Trumpet was too good to pass up! They could have been the next Green Jello! They might be as good as Liars Inc!
I really hope kids still listen to terrible albums way too many times even with the internet presenting them

I picked up The Man Who Knew Too Much and Kiss Me Deadly this weekend- Kiss Me Deadly was Amazing! Definitely one of the best films I've seen in awhile. Hoping to catch TMWKTM this coming weekend. Also still working my way through the Eclipse sets I got last week. (Nikkatsu Noir and the Kobayashi set)
Your queue is

Here to second Washington' rec and tell you to check out his trilogy if faith next. Through a Glass Darkly is simple but superb and Winter's Light is probably my favorite Bergman.
I haven't seen Seventh Seal or Wild Strawberries since I was a much younger man and look forward to revisiting them soon. I think you're

It takes a special type of person to have a Matt Pike article burst their AV Club cherry!
Now, off to Holy Mountain!

Erik, I know EXACTLY what you're talking about with the Peg intro. Those cymbals get me pumped up for a cocaine party I never even went to.
Props to O'Neal for passing this along! He had my heart at The Fall, but it's great to think of him snarking away to Stott!

If you're talking about Replica, that's probably more like actress than this. They're all doing similar "sound de/reconstruction," but I think the difference might lie in the frequency range- Stott and other folks do a lot of heavy lifting in the sub-bass region, whereas Actress folks have a lot more light synth and
