Stott probably comes more from a dubsteppy/sub-bass world that he's abstracting into "sound" whereas the Actress lp might be more micro techno/minimal/house?
Have you checked out that new Panthu Du Prince and the Bell Laboratory album? That might be more up the Actress alley. Panthu Du Prince had an album last year

I finally had my 'alright..this is great' moment with that record last night!
I've sworn with each 12" that THIS one would his fall off the hype-cliff, that the diminishing returns would kick in finally. Still hasn't happened.

Agreed completely! I saw it for the first time last year and it easily became my favorite Woody Allen movie. (in perpetual battle with Manhattan)
I never would've guessed he'd top his 70s work with a film from the 80s!

Glad to hear it. I'd actually lumped him in as an arty Emannuelle maker for his country (served a purpose at the time, now is just light porno) so I'm happy to hear there's more to find.

@avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus My exact predicament! It's a tough road Mr. Clark..

@avclub-cfe912f5cb3aa572bd1c9ae2a9b82207:disqus No, but I will put that on the list. (ahead of Empire of Passion but behind Mishima, which I'm hoping to screen this weekend!)
I've got a $25 Barnes and Noble giftcard burning a hole in my pocket. (ouch!)

The hobo walks down the street and is worth nothing, but bind up some photographs of said hobo and suddenly there's a $200.00 Price Tag! Clap Hands!

@avclub-a80fcd777df4edacea4dd9e20f8730e4:disqus That Horror Comes to Shochiku box set had me turning Japanese lately- since then I've been slurping up all the udo I can! I've really enjoyed some of the 60s Seijun Suzuki I've seen- might cleft your pallette from all that spaghetti!

I've only seen In the Realm of the Senses, which is a hell of an intro to ANY director. (had a similar experience with Pasolini where I blindly saw Salo in the theatres- yikes!)
I've always wondered what was in his ourvre outside of that. Will definitely check out Merry Christmas.

Well, you are the James Hetfield of Dreams..coming from you maybe that's a high-compliment?

I just found President Yo La Tengo at Amoeba last weekend (original pressing!) and have really been enjoying it! Knew it was a hit from the first squeals of Barnaby.
I rode in on the first wave of Napster with a few samples from I Can Hear… but Summer Sun was the first full lp I bought. Funny that I'm only now starting

Who's underrating the great Rainbow?
I've actually been meaning to give Elton John another try- I was a 'benfoldsfan' in high school but never made the leap to full-on "The John" fan. I think I'll try Honky Chateau (my mom's favourite) and this at work tomorrow.

It's alright son..I enjoyed side 1 of my dusty either/or this weekend while cleaning.

I think Rubber Soul is kind of an outlier in their catalogue, where they're trying on a different outfit. It sounds probably most like the pop of the day compared to their other lps, with its rhythms and motown-y structures.
Revolver is when they pull the thrusters and hit light speed. Riding that through Abbey Road

Ms. Waves just noticed Paul admitting he used to beat his woman in Getting Better- lots of domestic violence in Beatles songs!
My favorite is John declaring he'd rather see the gal dead than see her with someone else. He Really IS just a jealous guy!

Were you out in Buena Park, or are there other Medieval Times scattered around the globe? My aunt worked there in the 80s and young jonwaves loved the no-utensil food policy, but 20 year old jonwaves could never muster up the irony to balance the prices!
Glad the kid liked the violence at least!

We can only dream!

Thank You! I thought I was seriously missing something!

When they released the vhs box set in the mid 90s I was really curious to see part 2, as it was rarely rerun like parts 3-5 were back then. I thought the subtext was pretty clear back then, and have actually been surprised that it's become the main "read" on it in the internet age.
It definitely suffers from standard
