I'm genuinely surprised that people don't know who the likes of Elverum and co are; they're certainly not THAT obscure (particularly Elverum, who was something of an indie darling in the early 2000s with his Microphones releases). I don't think it's that unreasonable to assume that the readers of AV Club have a

Ah, yes; good old rampant AV Club sexism even when denouncing sexism.

Hooray!
I've been waiting for this for a long time now.

I've been watching my Kids in the Hall DVDs recently, so seeing this version of Dave Foley was especially jarring. 15 years is a long time, but not quite long enough to justify that. He's not even 50 yet…

That's not true - future downloadable songs will still be 'normal' songs that can be played in ANY of the main Rock Band titles. The only difference is now they'll typically be accompanied by a separate "Pro mode" download that costs a bit of extra money (probably $1 or so) for those who want access to the track's

Would anyone else prefer it if Mike Krahulik/Gabe was somehow ousted from Penny Arcade? I know he's the artist and all, but fuck, Holkins write circles around him and then some. Krahulik continually comes across as a huge idiot who has increasingly bought into his 'legendary' internet status. I generally like Penny

A little late to the game here, but I just happened to listen to the commentary of the Seinfeld episode with Kevin McDonald, and O'Neal's definitely reading WAY too much into it.

I am just crazy…
Or is the poster for this movie made to look like the cover of The Antlers' Hospice album? That's the only reason I clicked the link.

Shut up
As soon as I pressed the "Shut Up" button and recognized the sound as being from Smosh, I ceased enjoying the site.

Stewart
I remember when I first got into Xiu Xiu, I imagined Jamie Stewart to be one of the weirdest, most eccentric, and inaccessible people ever. But in every interview with him I've ever read/heard, he comes across as supremely grounded, friendly, and self-deprecating.

Far Cry 2 was a great game, though it annoyed me that the decisions you made in the game were completely irrelevant. Choosing faction sides had absolutely no bearing on the game, since the story progressed EXACTLY the same regardless.

It could certainly be a bit mean at times, but whenever they went too far they'd generally apologize. Even through the constant berating it's impossible not to notice the genuine affection that they all have for each other.

Yeah, one thing I very much missed as Karl slowly become the centrepiece for the XFM shows were the stories that Steve would tell about his life. They were always so hilariously pathetic and self-deprecating. And that man has an amazing wit about him.

Karl's almost definitely NOT an act. As others have pointed out, if you listen to the show from it's XFM days, he's simply the producer who you may hear a sentence or two from from once every couple of episodes. But as Ricky and Steve start talking to him more and more and realize how outlandish his views are, he

Yeah, the newest D4 is pretty mediocre. A few good tracks, but mostly kind of bland. I liked Situationist Comedy quite a bit, but I agree that their peak was definitely with Versus God.

Against Me!
Without even getting into their complete 180 in politics and sketchy behaviour towards past labels (though these are all major issues for me), I simply cannot stand Against Me's music anymore. But this is purely a case of them changing, and not me. Their new stuff is unabashedly horrendous, and Tom's

My love affair with Blink 182 came to an abrupt end when Enema of the State came out. At the time I thought Dude Ranch was underground as hell (it was the first album I bought in which no one I knew had even heard of the band), so when Enema came out and it's even poppier and more inane songs took them to mass

I have similar thoughts of many of the punk bands I used to listen to, but I think Propagandhi still holds up quite well.

Hometown
This guy lives in Toronto and yet he barely plays any shows here anymore. And when he does, it's a one-off that sells out quickly as hell. It sucks, especially since he used to be so active in the local scene.

I'm surprised there's this much debate about it. I didn't even consider the possibility that Dexter's punch was for any reason other than to appease Rita, and even after reading the arguments here, I'm still not convinced that he was genuinely mad.
