I love the show because it's just so damn pretty and I'm heavily invested in all the soapy-aspects of it, but I also found that subplot extremly galling (although Brown's confrontation with the sneering fascist was indeed fun to watch). Thanks for articulating so precisely what was wrong with it.

I think I get where you are coming from, and right now, I'm certainly more emotionally invested in Peggy than I am in Bel too (mainly because I have simply spent more time with Peggy - Mad Men has more time to flesh out the characters). I would prefer fewer romance and more job-related storylines for Bell too.

I you believe that "10 years from now" is a nice big buffer for a woman in her thirties, that shows that you are giving zero thought to the matter.

Another thing to consider: even without knowledge of Cece's precarious egg situation, Robbie's answer gives cause for concern. If you tell your 30-years old girlfriend that you see yourself having kids in 10 years, that pretty strongly implies that you are either a) flippant/inconsiderate, or b) really bad at math or

The film is somewhat fascinating in the way it manages to be really sweet and genuinely charming and also totally morally questionable, if you think about it for a bit.

DFW was pretty cute, I'd say. It may be an acquired taste, but I can't be totally alone in this; I suspect that quite a bit of Franzen's and Eugenides' jealousy was about DFW's appeal with the ladies too (at least you get that idea when you read The Marriage Plot as a roman à clef)

Austrians can be indeed pretty evil. But affably so! We are the word leaders in affable evil. It's the Gemütlichkeit, I think. Doesn't really lessen the evil, though. Just adds a touch of Hinterfotzigkeit.

Why should that be relevant to anyone whether you believe those statistics or not?

Well, as I said, most Megan haters I encountered were men. At any rate, it's not a feminist thing. (I guess as a feminist you are also likely to be more relaxed about that entire old-cow/new-cow phenomenon because you start from the assumption that you have more to offer than your fertility and don't derive all your
