One of Chandler's observations about detective stories (and he, along with Hammett, set the template for noir) was that the mystery/murder/case is not the story. It's dressing for the personal, human stories caught up within all of that mess. I think that's one thing NP got right this season and the last.

The Big Sleep, too.

It felt like a classic LA Noir tale in that sense. Chandler, Ellroy, etc. all had sprawling plots like this season's. Chandler couldn't even remember who was supposed to have shot the chauffer at the beginning of The Big Sleep when they were writing the screenplay!

Thus Ani's admonishment to the reporter to not leave the hotel for an hour after she did so he wouldn't be tailed, too.

Ray's looking up at the branches was his Rust Cohle moment, seeing the infinite…or something.

I do! I still use a '90s-era Yamaha sequencer…

Laurence Fishburne, not Montana Fishburne.

Haven't seen the finale yet (will tonight), but it's good to see that the reviewer is consistent in missing/misinterpreting major plot points!

I'm subscribed to that subreddit. I think the comments here are better, but that's a good supplement, yeah.

I haven't seen this episode yet, but I thought I'd ask here since this is the most recent…

First name, Frances.

Whoa…

Needs more dead birds on his head.

You want a beautiful name? Soda.

Tron is hot hot hot!

I remember learning that TRON was a command on PCs when I was a kid and the movie was all the rage…I was seriously disappointed that it was just for error-checking. I'm not sure what I expected, really, but a constant stream of code line numbers wasn't it.

STUPID! You are so stuuu-piiiid!
