Congratulations on the contract (assuming you all have ratified it)!

One of the things I miss about Chicago is getting El Milagro corn tortillas at the grocery store and they’d still be warm.

He isn’t out there advocating for anything terrible, and he’s definitely a person who would not stand for actual harm being done to anyone.

And WTF is a “bumpity” cake?  It’s Bumpy Cake, FFS.

I think it was Kevin Pang that did a good in-depth piece here on The Takeout about our local smashburger places, Schoop’s in particular. As I recall, there was special training for the cook to make them on the griddle. Kevin was not allowed to see exactly how it was done.

This is incredibly stupid. As mentioned, the game’s appeal is primarily its choose-your-own-adventure style interactivity. The story is nothing but a series of purposefully hacky tropes. “Until Dawn” is a good movie title but, really, that’s all you can get from adapting this.

Used to live up in The Region and yeah, Schoops is the best. It was always Schoops for burgers and Arman’s for hot dogs / polish.  And smash burgers are “California Style”? WTF.

Yes, the style goes back to the 1930's at least. I’d argue that Steak ‘n’ Shake, which started in Normal, IL, had one of the first widely available versions in their Steakburger. When I was in high school in the early 80's, there was a tiny little diner down the street in our Southern IL town that had great smash

The Great North is my favorite TV show that’s currently airing. I love the twists on the typical sitcom family (single dad, weird/absent mom, gay kid, younger married couple), the Alaska setting, the queer inclusivity. It’s a breath of fresh air.

I love Bob’s Burgers. But for two things:

They must have had a pretty good idea of the story arc from the beginning, so it seems like the writing is mostly just filling in the blanks.

It’s $35 now in Cook County. That’s almost up to what minimum wage was when it was $15.20. This is why Illinois is in debt.

This was exactly my response to reading this article.

That was my take.  “You know what Malort really didn’t need?  Carbonation.”

It’s been at Disney for ages. I tried it there almost 20 years ago. I can still remember how terrible it was.

Malort: A liquid Gypsy Curse that’s been bottled?

Let us know your thoughts!

You might now say, “When they’re really hungry, they will eat what you cook.” They will not.

I think you are right. The assembly is part of it too.

USA’s Blue Sky era shows (Monk, Suits, Psych, Burn Notice) were, I believe, around 16 a season, which was good for this kind of thing.
