There was a guy when I worked in a pizzeria about 20 years ago that figured out that if you got a side order meatballs with cheese and a garlic bread you saved about maybe 25-50 cents over ordering a meatball parm.  I mean, good for him, but I don’t know if that savings is worth me putting it together when I get home.

I like to go when there are only a couple other people in the theater anyhow. Usually Sunday afternoon matinee the second weekend a movie is out.

As I replied to another person I was being a bit facetious. However my mom is in a similar vein to to your MIL She used to drink a bit socially, but after her first kid and not drinking for a few months she just decided not to return to it knowing that alcoholism is a disease and it ran in the family. So if you stop

Exactly. I like drinking beer but if I go without it for days at a time I don’t have adverse effects, nor do I sleep or feel any better.

Which, I think, is the correct attitude to have.

If drinking gave you bouts of explosive anger then you shouldn’t have been drinking to start out with. I know people like that, they definitely shouldn’t be drinking. One guy drove his car into a tree while arguing with his girlfriend, killing her. When he got out of jail for that he got wasted and almost beat a dude

I think it’s important to recognize the context of the study. It was not to condemn alcohol. People eat and drink plenty of things that have no health benefits and are linked to increased risk of various illnesses. Bacon is one. Sugar in general is another. But they still do it. The important thing with alcohol is to

A daily drink isn’t going to keep you healthy, but it’s not going to destroy your health either. Ditto for a piece of cake, a reasonable portion of red meat, some butter, etc.

I find it baffleing that after 22 more or less self contained episodes that people are still going “Where’s the story!”

She’s been doing it for 10 years, but sure, what she really needs is the respect of internet men.

... homophobia and hatred of transpeople.

Most enjoyable episode so far. I laughed out loud several times, which is unusual for me. Really enjoying Harrison Ford, Jessica Williams (a revelation) and Lukita Maxwell’s work especially, but the cast does work well as an ensemble.

To be fair, if your father was always work first, family second your whole life, hearing that the “impromptu invite” to Vegas was to see him win an award for a lifetime dedicated to his work (i.e. ignoring his family), I think you’d be triggered too.

I figured out the secrest and it’s keeping your spices in a drawer all laid out so you can see them.

I mean, if you want to call a cheeseburger “plant based” because it contains lettuce and tomato (and because cows eat grass and so are themselves “plant based”) then sure, but that’s not how anybody uses the term. It’s marketing and it may not be 100% accurate, but most people understand it pretty easily so I don’t

Those are not questions asked in good faith, but just disingenuous nonsense.

Yep. I know regurgitating various Variety/Hollywood Reporter/etc. articles is the site’s bread and butter these days, but they’ve gotten significantly lazier at covering up their plagiarism. What’s worse is they’re typically such crummy writers that key details tend to get lost or distorted through all the article

We can’t get anything decent in the stores anymore. We drop by the fill-up stations and conveniece stores. For some reason they seem to have more viariety.

I only started watching Survivor during season 42, and then went back and watched 41. I skipped 40 because I knew I wouldn’t know any of the past winners, so went to 39 - the season with all the sexual harassment BS. I was horrified, and couldn’t keep watching the season after Kellee was voted out. I was truly
